What does it take to do a Phd in a business related field?
I got my bachelors degree in business, finance to be exact. But I was thinking of getting a phd or some sort of dr title instead of going for a masters. Does anyone know how that would work? How long these programs are, in what business fields for me, how to get in, how much you pay etc? Note: I would be an international student, but studied in the States before.

- Unless the title, Dr., is used more frequently by Ph.Ds in your country than it is in the US and unless it commands more respect than it does here, there is little point in earning it if your goal is to impress people, which it seems to be if I read your question accurately, as you use the word "title". In the US a doctorate in business is normally considered to be an academic, rather than a professional degree and would be pursued only be people who want to become professors. However, the MBA is considered to be the normal professional degree in the field and many, if not most, business professors do not hold Ph.Ds or DBAs in business, although they may hold a Ph.D. in economics or another field. An MBA normally takes two years and a doctorate five years. There are some MBA programs which are specifically designed for international students. On the average, tuition at a good MBA program is around $40K per year and up!
