finance about

last year i signed up for a computer course with advent, i went in with good intentions?

to do well and gain good qualifications in I.T!! unfortunately 1 month in to the course i was made redundant from my job and therefore tried to cancel the course!!! purely because i had no way of paying for it and didnt want to get in financial trouble!!!! baring in mind i had not progressed to stage 2 of the course i was on i thought it would not be a problem once i explained my circumstances, that was not the case with advent, they were very patronising and told me they would give me all the support i needed, point is i could NOT afford to pay for it no matter how much support they gave me!!! basically they had received the loan of £4,500 off barclay partner finance and didnt want to give it back!!! now a year on im in the same boat i havent touched the course since i tried to cancel 12 months ago, and the payment has gone up to £9,500 nearly 100% increase!!! advent dont give a toss about the money and i now owe barclays 9k!! i dont have that money, and me n my family are barely getting by as it is without this big mess!!! i set out to better myself and all seems to backfire on me, whilst the money grabbers at the top cant stop laughing!! i keep receiving debt collectors letters threatening with the usual and would like some good advice on what i can do!!!! plz help!!!

  1. you need to speak with the citizens advice bureau asap. take all your loan paperwork and course details along and get some free legal advice.
  2. The legal position is actually quite straight forward, although you will not like it. The course was available for you to attend and you entered into a contract to pay for it. You thus have to pay. I agree that you should approach the CAB (excellent people that they are), who will try to mediate a solution for you if they can but if Advent stands firm, you have no chance. Sorry.
  3. I will send to you my violin.
