Why do Dems Fight Against Our Police Officers?

He's president of the National Fraternal Order of Police, whose 324,000 members have plenty of pension-fund dollars invested in Exxon. In a May 17 letter to Exxon Chairman and CEO Rex Tillerson, Mr. Canterbury made clear he and his members don't agree that Exxon should be used to promote social goals if it means putting worker retirements at risk." you can go to Wall Street Journal or call the National Fraternal Order of Police if you want. This gentleman is the president of FOP

- this nonsense was trashed the other day when the stock market tanked BECAUSE OIL PRICES WENT UP. that means that the high cost of oil caused the stock market, and all of our 401k's to go down. this is the desperate spin of greedy people who will literally say anthing to keep us paying their taxes, in a very socialistic way i might add, so that they can continue to pocket the largest profits in history. but please keep talking - the more the paid shills from the oil companies (this exact same post is being repeated word for word out here) talk and try to trash those politicians who actually try to stand up for their constituency, the more likely it is that they will win (the dems and rational repubs).
- Simple. They don't. I've BEEN a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the last ten years. My pension investmenst are diversified, it's not all wrapped up with exxon.
- nice spin of course "most" Dems wont even know what your talking about. we support the police / Bill Clinton made sure that 300,000 more police got hired during his term(s)
- Dems. It was your Republican white house and led congress that has cut money to the police. In my state there is a lack of funds from the feds to state police. On top of that the president tells our goveneer its his responsibility to patrol the border without federal aid. So thanks Republicans for making our police dagerously thin.
- They ignore the massive, costly externalities that Exxon-Mobil has created for the globe and future generations. The police officers are more interested in profits (just like Exxon) while thumbing their noses at the consequences. Come to think of it; the chaos caused by the damage of climate change will increase the demand for police and make them more valuable. But self-interest isn't always noble. Sure, we aren't all socially responsible investors. Discovering that the police are not socially responsible investors (bordering on anti-social investors based on the wording he used) is irony of the highest order! I've always had respect for our police and their service to society, but that gives me pause.
- I strongly support our police. Some people have such unreasonable expectations of them. Some police officers have lost their jobs here in Austin, Texas because they defended themselves against violent attacks. However, money earning money should always be taxed much higher than money earned by the sweat of the brow. To favor otherwise is to take a very mean and selfish stance.
