Can the repo / finance company tell the dmv that your payments are behind on your car?
If your making payments on a financed car, and your payment is kind of late it is true that they can repo that car, but is it also true that they can tell the dmv something about the car, such as not to let you drive it etc....?

- to the best of my knowledge they may not tell the DMV/RMV that information. And why would the DMV need to know that
- I know that the insurance tells the DMV if you do not keep insurance on your car.
- the dmv has nothing to do with your payments. If you have valid license plates and insurance and a driver license, you are fine. They just want to scare you into making a payment.
- the DMV does not have anything to do with the repo. the breach of contract is between you and the finance company. the repo is acting as an agent of the finance company to reclaim the property that you are in breach of paying for. i think that the repo company is trying to scare you.
