How do I go about getting a finance check done on myself?
I have found some information that has led me to wonder how 'safe' I am from being used in fraudulant activities. Is it possible to check your own background? Or, to employ someone else to do that for you. Is this expensive? And what can be foud out? Do you have to have real evidence that you THINK something is happening, or, can you just be suspicious before a check is done? Thanks in advance. Would a credit check cover everything that may have required my signature? Business loans, etc.

- You are permitted 1 credit check free per year. There are sites on Yahoo that advertize that. Search "credit check" see what ocmes up. It will tell all your accounts, how much you owe, if you pay on time, if you are late paying, if you have a bankrupcey, write off and what your credit rating numbers are. It's a good idea to check it once a year fro free, but after one reading I think it's only $8.00
- go to myfreecreditcheck.com and do a three credit check you are allowed one per year, look to see if there are accounts opened up in your name that you are not aware of if so report it right away to the three agencies and put a block on your credit.
- Go to this site, lots of very usefull information and links. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/credit-rating
- There are two main credit reference companies in the uk - experian and equifax. You can request a copy of your credit report from both companies for a nominal fee of about £2. If you set up an account with them somnetimes it is even free. There are loads of companies advertising credit checks on the internet but I wouldn't use any of them because they will simply do what you can do yourself with these two companies. The report will show any CCJ's, decrees, judgements and bankruptcy. It will also show who has searched your credit report in the last 12 months so you can see who has been looking at your information. You can do as many checks as you like there is no limit on how often this can be done. The websites for the 2 companies are:- http://www.equifax.com/home/en_uk http://www.experian.co.uk/
