Will angel investors finance a restaurant franchise?

My husband is tired of retail management, his true calling is owning a restaurant. He is a born leader and very well organized & motivated. He is a natural chef too. We've honed in on a take 'n bake pizza franchise. The obstacle has always been getting it financed. Our credit has taken a hit, so loans are not feasible yet. No offense, we've worked very hard our whole lives and really can't stay on the merry-go-round of trying to improve our credit score---so please no, 'just keep working hard and you'll eventually get a loan'...We want and believe we can start living our dreams now...That said, does anyone know about angel investors...Thank you so much for any positive advice you might share ;)

  1. Hardly. Unless that angel investor personally knows you and investing in you -- not the business idea. Organized angel investors typically avoid the restaurant business, unless you have something totally different and new to offer. A restaurant franchise is just not an exciting business for angel investors You are better off finding someone in your community or circle of acquaintances if they would like to invest in a restaurant franchise. But you can try. You may want to go and pitch your ideas where investors gather. Here are some places where angel investors come and those looking for funding can come and pitch their business plans. Be sure to have a strong business plan and describe what makes your business idea stand apart: Angel Capital Association http://www.angelcapitalassociation.org Angel's Forum http://www.angelsforum.com Band of Angels http://www.bandangels.com Common Angels http://www.commonangels.com Keiretsu Forum http://www.k4forum.com Launchpad Venture Group http://www.launchpadventuregroup.com New World Angels http://www.newworldangels.com New York Angels http://www.newyorkangels.com Robin Hood Ventures http://www.robinhoodventures.com (charges $250) Business 20.0 http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/28/magazines/business2/angelinvestor/index.htm has a very good article on angel investors, what they typically look for, what kind of investments they support, etc. to give you a better understanding of how angel investors operate
