finance about

WHICH MAJOR should I choose before law school????

OK,listen,I like Finance,Political Science and Criminal Justice. But many people tell me that finance is a degree that provides more job opportunities and is a broader field than CJ AND PS.I want to have a second choice if something happens with law school,I don't finish it or who knows. And I think that I can get a decent job with a finance degree but it could be har to get a decent$$$ job with only a PS degree or a Criminal Justice degree. What do you think about this????I need an advice, thanks a lot.I'm right in my way of thinking or what should I do????

  1. I would take Finance/Accounting. This field would give you VALUABLE skills, unlike the other two majors, and Law Schools look positively on this experience. Do not think for a moment that taking Criminal Justice will give you an edge when you apply. To boost your chances, get some volunteer work in (especially if it is law related, e.g. child support division, immigration services), get to know a couple of professors well enough so that they will write good letters of recommendation, keep a good GPA, and practice for the LSAT. You might also want to take some extra English classes and/or Spanish classes. Such classes may make you stand out from other applicants. One other suggestion: take the Birkman test at your career counseling center and find out a bit about your talents, interests, and personality. This might help you in making your decision (I found the test to be invaluable). Good luck with everything!
  2. I say take up Literature instead, but whoever said Finance was better is correct. You'll have something to fall back on if you decide not to pursue law. I also know somehow who got a degree in Chemical Engineering then went to law school. I think that is definitely the best choice, but not very advisable. Anyway, just wanted to show you that you can take a course that may not seem related to law.
  3. Take Finance if you enjoy it and are good at it, because it provides skills, but minor in political science or something that will give you opportunities to develop your writing skills. Law school, and often the practice of law, is all about writing.
