Likelihood of getting into graduate school?

I'm attending CSUB, a local CA state university, double concentrating on Accounting & Finance. My current gpa is 3.88 and my GMAT score is 570. I plan to retake the GMAT after some tutoring. I have completed a summer internship program from a local accounting firm and will work part time during tax season. I am vice president of the university's accounting association and a member of the financial management association. How difficult would it be to get accepted into graduate schools like UCI, USC, or Pepperdine? Or what's the likelihood? Could someone from a crappy school get into a great school? I couldn't go to the school of my choice because of parents/family constraints. Is there hope?

  1. Retake the GMAT so that you have a higher score - that will help get you into a better school. Also, check out the websites for the schools you are interested in; try to hit the average GMAT score. You have a great gpa and lots of good experience, which will help a lot. Finally look into the program you want; MBAs usually want a couple of years of working experience, but if you want a master of science or a PhD that doesn't matter.
  2. I'm a senior in high school, but I'm kinda familiar with this. You definitely need a higher GMAT, but your GPA is really good, higher than the average of almost all Graduate schools. I'm not familiar with the difficulty of admissions of UCI, USC or Pepperdine, but one thing's for sure: any student from any place can attend any college, you just have to stick out.
