With finance major, can I become an accountant without going back to graduate school for accounting?

  1. I think so. You would have taken an accounting paper when doing your finance major, right? The important thing is, how confident are you in performing the work of an accountant? At an interview you must exude confidence. Don't say you've gone rusty or something like that.
  2. It is fairly easy to get a basic accounting position, such as entering data, balancing accounting sheets, etc, but more difficult to get more management-style accounting jobs. Basically, you can be a data entry clerk, and balance a company's check book. If you wish to get a more serious accounting job without having to go back to school, your best bet is to get some books, study at home, and pass a CPA certification on your own. But, honestly, with experience, it doesn't matter what your degree is in. If you are willing to start small at first, you can later quickly move up in what ever field you wish.
  3. Finance and accounting both are interrelated. You surely did study accounting while doing your finance major. If so you can become an accountant without any doubt
