What is the prefect size gemstone for a 3 prong style ring? (3stones together)?

Hey, My finance and I are trying to figure out what is the best size for a gemstone, sapphire that will be on my engagement ring. We both like the prong style, but we don't know how big of a stone. Now im not greedy, so i don't want something huge. But i really dont want something small. What is a good inbetween that is a reasonable price. Either give the size or karat. Thanks Pictures of stones in the ring from a website would be helpful
