1. Look for a cerified financial planner. Although you have to pay up-front a fee-only planner will give you the most unbiased advice.
2. Read up on managing them yourself. Otherwise, you risk being taken advantage of. Check out Dave Ramsey's book, "Financial Peace" or "Your Total Money Makeover". He'll explain everything in a way that's easy to understand.
