How do i get the most financial aid help possible??
All i've been reading about lately is what people are gonna spend there refund checks and financial aid money on. Usually its on stupid stuff like cars, clothes etc. Then i look at myself and see, i get no money for school period. After i fill out a Fafsa form, what do i do next? Can someone go through the process for me? I will be attending a university this coming summer so that means school fees will be almost 4 times as much. My mom says she makes too much money to get aid but that does not seem to be the case here at home when i go to pay for school lol. Thanks for your detailed answers. how do you find out if you are eligible for a pell grant? i have never spoken to Financial aid office. Should i just go there? ? anymore help?

- You have to look for scholarships. There are multiple search engines to look them up. Just make sure that you're not paying to use them because there are fraudulent ones out there. I'm using fastweb.com, but if you google free scholarship searches you get tons of other websites! It takes patience and hard work to look! Good Luck!!
- u can get student loans, apply for scholarships if your good, apply for grants, and of course SAVE UP. ~it's tought out there~
- You fill out the FASFA. They send you a Student Aid Report. They also send it to whatever school you have chosen to get the information. That tells you how much in Pell grants you qualify for, as well as what your contribution towards tuition would be. At that point you can do a scholarship search (fastweb is the best) and apply for those to eat up the difference in grants and loans. Don't do loans unless you have to. If you do, you don't have to pay them until 6 months after you don't take classes. That includes if you don't finish the degree. The schools' financial aid office can help you through it too.
- After you fill out your fafsa you get a SAR report or studaent aid report, for the most part this federal aid comes form financial need some unfortunately the more money you made the less free money you get ( ie: Pell Grants ) Now in CA there a great grant called the Call Grant which is up to 10,000 of money you don't pay back, but i'm not sure if other states have such a grant. Then you have PLUS Loans and Federal subsidizes and unsubsidizes loans...which will be the bulk of your financial aid. You can go the route of 3 rd part loans which are independent banks and finiancial instituions that give you the check to pay for school ( apire loans is one the come to mind, wells frago/navy fed have these kind of loans as well ) So basically once you fafsa has been approved and you get your SAR report and find out what you EFC - expected family contribution is you'll be able to get an idea ( through talking to your financial aid people ) of what kinda of money you'll be looking at.
