  1. Well, first of all, what school are you going to attend? Each University and a lot of vocational schools have financial aid offices. They have faculty who work specifically with people who need to apply or are currently using FAFSA. Most University websites have links to FAFSA applications. They also have "how to apply" instructions. Heres the link to find out the requirements to be able to receive FAFSA..... http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/faq003.htm
  2. 1) go to the fafsa website and fill out the fafsa 2) contact your university's financial aid office to ask if you can submit any additional paperwork for other financial aid (doubtful, most aid is done through fafsa) 3) you should be contacted by your school about what financial aid you are eligible for
  3. Go to the FAFSA web site - U.S. Department of Education on the net. You can fill out the application and submit it on-line at the same location.
  4. If you don't already have a FAFSA packet, you could get one from the counseling office at your school. The counselors can also help you find people who are experts at FAFSA to guide you. If you're trying to apply for FAFSA for the 2008-2009 school year, you'd have to wait until Jan or Feb 2008, because the FAFSA forms aren't availabe until then. You can also go the www.fafsa.ed.gov so apply online, or, try getting free help completing the FAFSA by going to www.studentaid.ed.gov/completefafsa - I don't know how useful this website is, I haven't tried it before. I hope this helps you.
  5. When you fill out your form through the fafsa website: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ keep in mind that part of the application process is requesting a pin number and receiving that through email takes about 1-3 business days. It's a way to sign your forms electronically. The fafsa website will take you through all the steps though and will tell you how to apply for your pin. However, also contact the colleges you're applying to or the college you're attending and ask to make an appointment or speak with a financial aid officer to answer any questions you have about the different types of financial aid available. Or you can go through the university's website to get information on financial aid. It's never too late to apply for financial aid. However, priority is given to those who apply by the college's deadline. I applied for financial aid very late, a few days before the fall semester started, and was still able to get a loan. If I would have applied on time I might have gotten a grant or something. Again, contact the colleges you're interested to find info on that. Good luck.
  6. Go to fafsa.ed.gov. It is FREE. Do not pay to have someone apply for you. You will need your tax return and if you are a dependent your parent's information as well social security no and school's name.
  7. Here are the steps you need to take: 1) Fill out the FAFSA. This will determine if you are eligible for financial aid. Go here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ 2) Once you are eligible for aid, choose a government-based student loan. The best loan to get is a Federal Perkins Loan. These have low interest rates and the government will help you pay it back as long as you stay enrolled in school. You also don't need a cosigner or good credit for it. For more info go here: http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/student_loans/perkins_student_loans.aspx 3) The next best loan to get is a Subsidized Stafford Loan. This has many of the same benefits as a Perkins Loan. Learn more here: http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/student_loans/subsidized_stafford_loan.aspx 4) You can also try to get a grant or scholarship, which is free money that you won't have to pay back.
