How long before we can re-finance our home?

We bought our house in October 2005. How long before we can shop for a lower intrest rate?

  1. any time now go for it.
  2. right now mortgage professional
  3. Well it depends if you have a pre payment penalty on your loan if not you can refinance anytime but these are not good the rates are much higher then they were in October unless you need a cash out refinance then you can do it now.
  4. That depends on your mortgage, if you have a pre-payment penalty on your loan you need to have it for 3 years or go through the same financing company you already have. If you don't wait the 3 years you could pay thousands of dollars in fee's which in the market today even with lowering your rate won't save you money. If the company you have your mortgage with has a lower rate now than when you bought the house try through them.
  5. i am a loan officer you can do it any time but you would want it to put you in a better financial situation i dont know your whole situation so if you could email me your exact situation my email is nanu569@yahoo.com or on aim my sn is nanu596 and i can tell you if it is a good time to refi or not when you email me i will give you all my contact info i just dont like giving it out over yahoo
  6. You can always refinance. If your current loan has a pre-payment penalty, that may apply however.
