As a female, what should I watch out for when negotiating to purchase/finance a new or used vehicle?

- Watch out for what the seller promises you, have them put it in writing. Remember this, If it's not in writing, it's not worth anything! BE CAREFUL
- Just remember, the dealer has the home court advantage and they do it every day. They can stick a knife in your back and make you like it if you let them. Do your homework before you go, know what kind of car you want if possible and what the book values are. NADA.COM and KBB.COM have info on used cars. There are places to look up the invoice amount on new cars but I don't know what they are (the dealer pays the invoice amount but I believe they get rebates from the manufacturer from $200 - $500). Other tips: Do not buy the car on the spot. The dealer will try to get you to make an offer against the sticker price. Once you make the offer and they accept, it is yours. (Some states allow you til the time you drive it off the lot, aka "delivered". I have heard you can negotiate better on the last day of the month because they don't want to pay the interest on floor plan financing that accrues on the first (no guarantee this is the right day though). Take someone with you to help make the deal. Maybe they could keep you from doing something stupid. Financing - See what it would cost to get your own financing. Check the interest rate and above all, make sure you know the TOTAL OF PAYMENTS. All kinds of shemes on the financing end (adjustable rates, etc.) You will feel a lot better about your purchase if you negotiate a good deal. Good luck.
- im in the car business, email me with the details on the car you want to buy, and i will make sure you get a good deal.
