How To Finance Law School Knowledge Base

How do you finance law school? How do you take out student loans? Is there a maximum?!? I want to study international business and trade law - I have two undergrad degrees (Int'l studies and Spanish lit)... I REALLY want to go back and get this degree... I've taken an 2 year break to experience the working world. My undergrad was taken for entirely by scholarships provided by the state of Louisiana... How do student loans work? What are the best to get? Is it possible to take out the $150,000 that this is going to cost!? That seems crazy... Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thx...
Double major in Finance/Econ or Finance/Accounting if I want to work and then go to law school? I want to work for a few years after undergrad and then go to law school to specialize in corporate law. How will the job market be for Finance/Econ.
How do I know if going to Law school is really the right thing for me? Im currently in the cross-roads of whether to go to Law school or continue my career in Finance/Economics. I would like to know, specially from the experienced onces, how wouldI know if going to Law school is the right thing to do. And also what are the qualities that prospective Law students must posses/develop in order to survive Law school? Thanks!
Switching to med school as a finance major? I am wondering how hard it would be to try to go to med school if I have graduated as a Fiannce major with a 3.2. I am 24 and I am making a decsion on either trying for law school or do my pre recs. for med school and take a crack at that. I am not 100% sure what I want to do it will be either of those If I can get into somethiong decent. My question is, is it possible to try to go to med school while being a graduate of Finance and is it worth doining all the work? I am still trying to find the right path any guidance would be appreciated. Thanl you all for the responses. I am still in that rut of figuring out all I want to do. At least for law school I am aiming for a second tier which is nationally recognized for the law that I would study. For med school I know it s huge up hill battle, there is small univeristy that offers all the prereq's as a specilazed program so if I do go down those lines I would most likely do that program. I am just curious whether if I do well in my med school prereq's I can use that GPA as the bases for getting me into med school or not??
Which career path and how hard is it to enter into a law school? I want to double major in business (finance or international) and civil engineering (construction). How hard is it and how long does double majoring from different ends takes? I might want to enter law school later...I just not sure how to afford it? Responding and helping moi out would be great!
How likely am I to get into a good law school? I have over a 3.7 GPA. I'm a psychology and finance double major, and I also have a minor in Asian studies. I am currently interning at a large mutual fund services company and I'm fairly involved on campus, even though I think I could improve on that. Also, I help my family manage our small business.
How difficult is it to land a job with the NASD/SEC with law degree? I am currently in law school, and I have a finance degree. I was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it was to get a job with the NASD (now FINRA) or SEC. How much do they pay? I love finance and the law is interesting too. I feel that this is my calling. Any opinions? Are internships good ways to get my feet in the door?
how hard is it to get into a decent law school..? I am about to be a junior with a finance, real estate, and law business major...I currently have a 3.2 GPA...will that get me into a good law school?

A Full Time Job and Part-Time Law School? I am 21 and about to graduate in May 2007 with a degree in Finance. I want to pursue a law degree part time after I graduate while also working full time. I have one semester of university left, from February to May. My problem is that it is hard to find jobs that offer 9-5 hours that will give me enough time to complete law school well. So far, I have interviewed for some management positions at financial institutions and an industrial firm, but so far no takers. I have pretty decent grades, but I have no extracurriculars other than working many hours in retail each week for three years. I have not been able to find any government positions. I can't go to law school full-time for financial reasons. What can I do, besides getting a Notary Public, to boost up my resume and credentials? What positions fit my needs and how can I find them? I sincerely thank you for helping me on this important matter.
which major will be better before law school:Finance or Political Science???? I'm between these two.My goal is to become a judge in a future.Which could be better for me??? thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking for advice on financing law school.....? Does anyone have any recommendations for resources regarding securing financing for law school? Financial aid, private grants, aid, etc..... I have looked at reference books and websites, but they are difficult to navigate and hard to narrow down for what would be a good match for me. Thanks!
Is FINANCE a good major for law school????? I want to practice criminal law and I want to go to law school.I have a bachelor in finance.
Which (Texas) school should I attend for a MBA after law school and a BBA in Finance? In May I graduated with a law degree and I have a BBA in Finance. I would like to receive a MBA, but cannot decide on what type of school. I am accepted to the regional university (West Texas A&M) where I received my BBA, but I am afraid that employers will think that is the only school I could get into. My BBA grades are better than my JD grades and I do not want them to think that my business school was easier than my law school. I can get accepted to Western Michigan and University of Dallas among other schools in Texas due to my JD. I really want to work and live in Texas and I am taking the bar in Texas next week. I also think that I need to attend a Texas school due to Texas pride – You had to go out of Texas, because you could not get into a Texas school. No, I went for the diversity and the educational experience received. Note: I am 31 years old. Should I go to another school than my BBA? Should I go to a state-wide school? Do employers like University of Dallas?
Can I major in finance and still go on to law school? Im interested in becoming a lawyer because I really think I would enjoy it because I love debating people and I love proving people to be wrong. So I was wondering if I could major in finance and also go on to law school because if I decide to change my mind about law school I would still like to be able to fall back on a major that can get me a good job.
Law School...? I graduated from H.S. in 2001, since then I have been in and out college. I have always wanted to go to law school but I didn't want to spend alot of time or money on school. I started taking classes for nursing. Well I came to my senses and decided to just focus on finishing school and then applying to law school. My problem is that now I have about 2 1/2 more years of undergrad to bring up my GPA and take the LSAT. Would it matter that I didn't do so well in the first two years of undergrad? I'm currently 24 now and I'm going back to school this coming fall. I want to take about 16 credit hours and come out with a really high GPA. Is this even possible. I'm thinking about majoring in business with a minor in finance or major in political science with a minor in criminal justice. Any thoughts on how to better my chances of getting into a good law school. I'm in NC now and if I don't pull up my GPA or get a high LSAT score, then I have to go to North Carolina Central University. I'm not saying anything bad about North Carolina Central University, it's just that it's not one of my choices to go to. It's not even recognized on any list of best law schools to attend. I worry about cost too, but I know that if I do well these couple of years and excel on the LSAT then I could probably get a scholarship. Is this even possible? I don't want to have to give up my dream of attending law school, but I know that I didn't do right straight out of H.S. Any insight from current or fellow law students would be helpful.
I am a finance major considering going to law school, is it worth it? I dont necessarily want to practice, but i would focus in business law. I could start out somewhere and eventually have my own financial/law firm. Any suggestions or ideas?
WHAT bachelor is better before law school: political science or finance??? I like both but I don't know which shold I choose.....
Is it possible to have a baby during Law School? My partner and I were talking about having a baby and the only thing that we really disagree on is the when. I want to have a baby once I'm done with law school which is when I'm 26, soon to be 27. I'm 22 now and she doesn't really want to wait that long since she's 27 herself. I'm trying to be open minded about the time frame but I do have some concerns. Firstly, I'm wondering how a pregnancy would effect my education. I'd never have a child during 1L, but maybe 2L or 3L would be easier. Has anyone done this before? Did you have to take time off? And how did you deal with having a newborn and being a fulltime law student? Daycare, clinic duties, etc. Secondly I'm worried about finances. My partner makes around $70,000 a year but I wouldn't have an income during school. So as much as I'd like her to split childcare duties with me I know that'd be hard for her because of her schedule. And her working less wouldn't really be an option since she'd basically be the sole breadwinner.
How much would lower grades in my junior and senior year but a good GPA affect my chances for law school? My overall GPA is a 3.5, but in my second two years it averaged about a 3.2 while in my first three years it was over 3.6. I majored in something I wasn't interested in (Finance) which is why when I was taking all business classes my GPA went down. But overall my GPA isn't bad. How much will the grade trend affect my chances of getting in?
Question for lawyers or people who are familiar with law as a career:? I am a pre-law student who is very money-motivated and at the same time a little uneasy about the large amount of debt I will take on trying to finance law school. I'd like to know what are the most lucrative areas of law to concentrate in? I live in Los Angeles.
Undergrad degree choices for going to law school or getting mba? My current majors are electrical engineering and finance. I chose these to have diverse options once I complete an undergrad degree to either go to law school, get an mba, or get a masters in some kind of engineering. I was wondering what would best complement my finance degree to get into law school or a top mba program, electrical engineering or mathematics as a second degree? Also, engineering majors typically have lower gpas then other majors such as finance or mathematics because of the nature of the program. Would top law schools and mba programs take this into account for admittance? Or is it all about the gpa? I go to UGA and want to get into a much better school (Top 10) after undergrad, any tips on achieving this? I also heard that people with majors in something analytical such as mathematics have no problem getting into top MBA programs and law schools, is that true?
Accounting vs. Law School? I am sr. accounting/finance major and I have a job offer with the PriceWaterhouseCoopers in their tax department. This is a great opportunity for me, yet I also want to study law. Would you recomend that I go work for PWC for a little while and then enter law school, go strait to law school. I honestly enjoy accounting/finance as much as I would enjoy law. I just constatnly hear about a over supply of lawyers, and dont know if it is worth the cost?
Law School vs. Paralegal Certificate? I'm looking for advice from anyone who is currently either an attorney or paralegal. I'm 34 years old, with a business/finance background, and considering going to law school next year. I want to learn tax law, and return to the investment world with my degree and knowledge. But I've read postings here from people who regret having gone to law school. I've also read that, for cost savings, law firms are hiring more paralegals and delegating the work to them. I'd consider this, but don't want to regret not "going all the way" and done law school. Thoughts/advice? Thanks!

But this year should be easily over a 3 with alot more credits. I also have been working throughout college, (im a project manager at my fraternitys executive offices),(10 hours a week). I also teach chinese at the local high school. (i'm a fluent chinese speaker), even though i was born and raised in the U.S. If i raise up my gpa to at least above a 3, before i graduate and get a decent score on my sats. do i have a shot at a top tier law( http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/ra... school? Should i go to Law school? I am getting a major in Finance at the moment. The endurance of Law School and the work load does not bother me as i will make the necessary life style changes. The problem with it is that 1. it costs a ton of money 2. The time spent getting my law degree has an internal cost of the money foregone from teh 3 years of working. 3. I will get out without any work experience other than internships. 4. i do not want to practice law, only be affluent in the legal system so that I can further push my careers in the finance world ( I.E. I could be an investment banker with the knowledge of everything legal) It will however open up doors that would previously be shut, I.e. government official and etc... Is it worth it?
What is the lsat for law school? I was going to major in finance but now i'm thinking about law school. One problem i was at a local 2yr college dropped a lot of classes and now i'm ready to start again. What do you recommend I do? What are my chances of succeeding with all the dropped classes?
Is the law school of University of Adelaide good?? I'm planning to do laws and finance there next year..But i don't know if it's a good choice..anyone please advise anyone???Please tell more about the law school..thanks!
Should I go to law school? For years I've contemplated attending law school (ONLY the full time day programs). However, after completing my undergraduate degree in 2004 I worked for a year in finance and then ended up as a public school teacher in an urban area (this happened completely by accident). I ended up earning an M.S. degree since I began teaching and am considering a career change sometime in the future. Now, I am frightened of the possibility of going to law school because of the costs. I am already over 50,000 in debt from my undergrad education alone. (thank goodness there are no loans for my master's program) I will be 26 this year and it's been almost 4 years since I've earned my bachelor's degree. Law school is a full time program (3 years) and I will not be able to work an make a living for myself. It would mean more loans on top of what I already have. Should I do law school or consider another line of work? If so, what are some suggestions? I have a B.A. (double major in Poli Sci and Communication) I have an M.S. in Education I've been teaching about 3 years.

I am a 17yr old Canadian who has spent his entire life in dream-like state, fantasizing about going to study Law in England. However, I begin to question which Law school is best in terms of reputation, costs, and student life. What Criminal Justice careers can you get with a BA? Law School affordability? I am interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice. However, I do not want to be a cop or work in the correctional department. I would like to know what office related careers are there and a salary range for them. ex. security account manager I really want to be a lawyer, but I don't think law school is possible when it comes to finances. Any tips on making it possible. Do you have to go to an Ivy League law school to have good career options.
